Guide: Re-align IR sensor for better remote sensitivity

****BY OPENING THIS BOX, YOU ARE VOIDING THE WARRANTY*** unless you can figure out how to remove/replace the seal. i picked at it and it just started to shred, so i just broke the seal.
Here's the step-by-step accompanied by the photos.
1) remove the two side screws and three rear screws and remove the cover.
2) note all the empty space in there and be amazed (I can see somebody modding an internal hard drive into these boxes soon)
3) remove the two screws holding on the front bezel, and the two cables attaching the front board. (see photo) They just pull off and push back on, it's easy.
4) the front bezel comes off without incident. I started from the top, popped the top tabs, and kind of "leaned" the bezel forward and the bottom ones came off as well.
5) remove the four screws from the back of the front circuit board, and remove it.
6) re-align the sensor, there's a nice silkscreen outline right on the PCB that shows where it goes. note how far off mine was in the photo.
Repeat steps in reverse order to re-assemble.
I saw a noticeable, though not mind-blowingly-dramatic, improvement in the lateral sensitivity of the sensor. Vertical, there's still not room for a whole lot of play when I'm using the remote from across the room, but side-to-side it works a whole lot better. The buttons don't seem to skip near as much as before. When i first got the unit, I'd say the box missed about 1 in 3 button presses, which made inputting channel numbers a pain.
Anyway that's it, quick and dirty----and EASY. Even the noobiest of noobs can do this adjustment, so get a philips screwdriver and get to it!
end c/p
