How to set up a USB to Serial Drivers for .....XP, Vista, Vista2 USB to Serial Driver -set up Instructions . ================================================== ======= Now you can use serial cables to program from your laptop. Connect your receiver and laptop with this USB-to-serial port adapter. Please follow the instructions below to set the right COM port: Setup Instructions STEP 1: Install the Software First, download and install the driver for your version of Windows (see above) Note: there are separate drivers for Windows XP and Windows Vista STEP 2: Plug-in the Hardware Connect the USB-to-serial adapter to your PC's USB port, and follow the on-screen instructions STEP 3: Set the Right COM Port Right click on MY COMPUTER then click PROPERTIES Click HARDWARE, then DEVICE MANAGER Double click PORTS (COM & LPT), and look for PROLIFIC USB-to-SERIAL Comm Port Double click that to open it Then click PORT SETTINGS, then ADVANCED Change the COM PORT NUMBER to COM1 Then click OK If you get a warning message, click YES Then click OK, and close DEVICE MANAGER Finally, restart your PC Now.... All this being said Vista and use of the USB/Serial Adapter is a big problem. I have yet to get it to work using a "Laptop". I would strongly suggest forgetting the adapter and go with a PCMCIA - RS232 Card. Windows XP... Works well with the USB/Serial Adapter
