Things To Check For Signal Problems
I don't know if anyone else has made a check list of things to check if a system that has been running good starts to give you problems so here is the start of one. Please feel free to add to it the things I'm sure I'll miss. Problem: Signal Loss - Intermittent or Complete Things to check: 1. Bad weather or signal blocked from swaying tree(s) or new structure put up in line of sight 2. Failing DiSEqC switch or Multiswitch from power surge, weather damage or age 3. Poor cable end connections resulting in corrosion of the cable (outdoor connections) 4. Intermittent grounding due to poor installation of cable ends (common with push-on, twist-on and crimp connectors, compression connectors are far superior) 5. LNB failing from weather damage, power surge, or age 6. Sharp kink in the cable somewhere between LNB, switches and receiver 7. Dish out of line due to strong wind, mobile home settling/shifting, roof sagging on old house 8. Read Recent channel moves on dish net post 9. Check antenna settings in receiver setup menu 10. Make sure all cable end connections are tight (finger tight only) 11. Receiver itself is starting to malfunction Happy testing everyone. |
