LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- U.S. filmmaker and musician Rob Zombie is working on a remake of the classic 1958 science-fiction movie "The Blob," Variety reported.
Production is expected to start next spring, with Zombie writing, directing and producing.
"My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing. That's the first thing I want to change," Zombie told the entertainment industry trade newspaper. "That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now. I have a totally different take, one that's pretty dark."
Zombie's films include the horror flicks "House of 1,000 Corpses," "Halloween" and "Halloween II."
