Looking for help with router?

I BOUght a router about 4 mounths ago so i can be on the web while the kids play the xbox online they play halo3 for about a week know,i cant get on the computor because everytrime i do there xbox online lagges up bad to the point that they cant play,so i feel bad and unhook my router and hook it straight to the xbox and alls good for them,but once i do hook up the router and conputor they cant play because of the massive lag and for me downloadind or uploading files know seems to take a long,long time.i called the router people went through the steps and they say the router is fine,so i called bell they said the internet speed and connection is good. is there a certain router i should be running mine is not hook up wireless i have the cables running to computor and xbox.

any idea of the lag problem,yes i am running high speed.:mad:

having same problem musky i called the xbox company to see if there was something we could do to correct this issue and the ass said yea stay off the computer while they play xbox lol needless to say that did not solve the problem so im trying all wireless right now and crossed fingers but no problems yet pc on wireless and xbox! :)

using the same router. im not sure how to run it wireless.

you have to buy the wireless connector for the xbox and also will need wireless dlink card for the pc the xbox peice plugs into the same place the cable would normally plug in! and has a lil antenna on it crap costed quite a bit to do but still no probs so far! :)

musky..........what is the brand and model of router you bought, most new ones now a days are wireless connectivity and direct 4 ports as well. It could just be some wrong settings possibly.......no pro at this but I've hooked up a few Linksys routers.

Hey musky...yup bell first of all.Have bell to.wosrt poeple to deal with.Yes there is some setting in routor.D-link the best.Open up a port for xbox and or open the dmz on that ip for xbox.And if you can get a n rotour.will speed it up big time.If you have it.Check to see that the qos is off.You can all so run a hub before rotour .than you pc potected but xbox will be direct.Best is to set up xbox dmz,this will open the rotour wide open for just xbox.If you tell us your rotour can get you some settings.Hope this may help.

my router is a linksys i need a bit more info 1boxman but im at work now,ill talk to ya in a bit. all i want is to play xbox live while being able to surff the net without the xbox lagging.
