In the window that appears, look at the "Network Tasks" panel and select "Create a new connection." New connection wizard The New Connection Wizard window will appear. Click Next. When prompted for your "Network Connection Type", select Connect to the Internet and click Next again. The third screen is titled Getting Ready. Select Set up my connection manually and click Next. The fourth screen is titled Internet Connection. Select Connect using a dialup modem and click Next. This produces the Connection Name window. We recommend using a name that is easy to remember. For example: ISP Name: (i.e AOL, NetZero) Again, click Next. The sixth screen prompts you for the phone number to dial. Phone number to dial: Enter the dial-up phone number to your service provider Click Next. The seventh window asks whether this connection should be available to all users on this machine or not. Again, click Next. This produces the Internet Account Information window: Input your proper settings User name: log-in user name given to by your provider. Password: Your password. Confirm password: Type your password again. If you check "Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer," your password will be stored on the computer. If Check "Make this your default Internet connection Uncheckturn on Internet Connection Firewall Click Next. Check the box if you want to create a desktop shortcut for this connection. Go back to the Network Connections window; there will be a new icon for your Dial-up. Starting a session The initial configuration (above) needs to be done only once. First, plug a phone line into your modem and into an analog phone jack in the wall. If you created a desktop dialup icon, double-click it; otherwise, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections (which opens this window) and double-click your Dialup icon there. (You can also create a shortcut on the desktop by dragging and dropping the dialup icon onto the desktop.) You will see the following window: Enter your user name and password, Once you've seen the dialing and connecting windows pass by, a small network icon (two computers) will appear in the lower right area of your task bar. Whenever their screens light up, information is being transmitted over the active connection. At this point, you're connected. When you've finished with your networking session, click the network icon (two computers) in the lower right corner of the screen. It will open a networking details window in the middle of the screen. You can choose to disconnect from here. Setting up your Nfusion to use dialup server Now you can do this Dial up as we all know is very slow you will be able to get updates but they are between 800 and 900K it will take a bit But this does give those still living in the 90s a ray of hope Connect your Nfusion to your PC Via a cat5 crossover patch cable ( you must have a network card for this to work) Initialize your dialup (sign on to the internet) After a few secondscheck your network settings (menu>internet>Network Information) Set DHCP/Static to DHCP You should (if your logged on and have a patch cable hooked up see an IP address of 192.168.0.x - x being what ever number. |
