XM Canada Grows Subs
XM Canada, the north of the border digital audio service from the satellite radio giant, saw its customer base grow during its fiscal quarter that ended Nov. 30.
The company said its total subscriber count reached 350,300 at the end of the period, representing a growth rate of 11 percent between the previous quarter and the period ending Nov. 30. Self-paying subscribers grew by 15 percent to 214,100, the company said.
Self-paying customers are not part of a promotional service period in which vehicle manufacturers will incur the cost of service for customers during a fixed time. XM Canada receives revenue from the vehicle manufacturer for the trial period following an initial purchase or lease of the vehicle.
Said XM Canada CEO Michael Moskowitz. "Our momentum is building and we have yet to recognize the benefits of our strategic partnerships, which allow us access to more than 50 million points of contact every year through trial subscriptions and increased brand awareness. We expect 2008 to be another record year for XM Canada."
