Who's Who in Satellite Teleport Excellence?
The World Teleport Association announced this week the finalists for its 2008 Teleport Awards for Excellence, winners for which will be honored next week at the group's 13th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence Luncheon at Satellite 2008. Corporate teleport finalists this year are the ESPN Broadcast Center in Connecticut, Eutelsat in France and Gascom in Russia. Independent teleport finalists are CapRock Communications in Houston, Globecomm Systems in New York and Spacenet in Virginia. In a separate announcement, the association said Kenneth Miller, president and COO of Globecomm Systems, was named its 2008 Teleport Executive of the Year. Globecomm became well known in satellite circles for the use of its Long Island teleport to support an aggressive growth strategy, WTA said.
