There will be alot of hype around in the next while would be nice to have a forum dedicated to it and a list (sticky) of FTA recivers with the tuner to scan for these channels with an antenna and no dish will help people have some patience for downtime on Bev and Charlie good venue to sell some recivers with the tuners in them.

The DTV (Digital Converter Box) boxes that are being bought for $50-$80.00 will NOT give you a High Def picture...
They were designed for use with the basic 480p Tv.... Your picture is better but not HD. For a high def tuner you are going to be paying a couple hundred dollars. Example.... Say you have a LCD Tv that is 720p.... As far as I know the digital converter box for the basic Tv will not even give you the 720 signal and possibly not even work at all. So I purchased the: Quote:
With the SAMSUNG DTB-H260F, you can view HDTV, SDTV, and listen to Dolby® Digital 2.0 stereo or Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround audio through your audio system. SAMSUNG solves output worries with a wide selection of output options including 1080i, 720p or 480p/i DTV formats
But it is for use with the 720p Tv. You know though that now the price of TV's are down and it would possibly be wiser to just buy the HDTV instead of the $200. DTV box. Myself.... The antenna will pull in so many channels that a sub is not needed plus with the External Hard Drive (500gb) there is more than 500 hours or recording to watch when FTA goes dark.

Even if the full roll to DTV does not happen until june there are channels that already broadcast a digital signal. I know of two in my area. The ability of a sat box to receive these would be a factor in the choice of my next box. Why by two boxes when one will do. The switchover in Canada will not come for a couple of years yet but I live close enough to the states that I can receive American OTA.
