UFC & Dana White open the door for “The Pitbull” Andrei Arlovski to return to the octagon.


UFC President, Dana White has spoken of his sadness at losing top rated heavyweight, Andre Arlovski and hinted that the door remains firmly open for the Belarusian to make his return to the octagon.

Speaking to CBS Sports, White explained:

“In nine years, there’s only one fighter that I’ve lost that I didn’t want to lose. That was (Andrei) Arlovski, and it still bothers me.”

“I jumped on a plane and flew to Chicago with Lorenzo (Fertitta) and kissed his butt to try to make him not leave.”

“He wanted to box on HBO. He had a lot of different things that he wanted to do that I couldn't’t let him do.”

White goes onto comment on the forthcoming Affliction bout involving Arlovski and famed Russian, Fedor Emelianenko.

“That will be a very interesting fight. I’ll never say that Fedor is the best until he jumps in there and fights the best on a consistent basis.”

There is no doubt that every UFC fan would love to see “The Pitbull” back inside the octagon at some point in 2009. His success in January could have a major bearing on that as a win over Fedor would see Arlovski become the hottest property in the MMA world.
