The major differences between the VS9000HD and the VS MAX HD are simply the ATSC Tuner and Main Satellite Tuner. The design is also more efficient then the 9000 and produces a lot less heat.

8PSK and Turbo 8PSK is there a difference?

Yes 8PSK is pretty much a standard type of modulation used by many including many FTA satellites. This is a better modulation then the main DVB standard of QPSK. The VS MAX, 9000HD SV8000HD and pretty much all FTA HD receivers can do 8PSK right out of the box. Don’t get this confused with the Turbo 8PSK that DN uses. This is what the Add-on Module does. Many have become to call it an 8PSK Module or 8PSK Add-on however they are wrong. In fact it is a Turbo 8PSK Add-ON Module and adds the ability to demodulate DN Turbo 8PSK modulation they use. Hence DN advertising AD for Turbo HD or Turbo charging your HD cause in fact they use Turbo 8PSK. Let’s not confuse QPSK, 8PSK and Turbo 8PSK with Mpeg2 and Mpeg 4. Mpeg 2 and Mpeg 4 are a type of Video compression like MP3 is an audio compression but QPSK, 8PSK and Turbo 8PSK are a type of Modulation.

So with the above said lets answer these common questions.

Does the VS MAX Do Mpeg 4?
Answer: Yes

Does the VS MAX HD have DN Turbo 8PSK built in out of the box?
Answer: No

Does the VS MAX HD do SD and HD?
Answer: Yes

Can the VS MAX HD do BEV HD?
Answer: Yes with 3rd party software

Can the VS MAX HD do DN HD?
Answer: Yes with the Add-on Turbo 8psk Module SK200 and 3rd party software
