Viewsat 7000PVR How To Guide

Always remember to turn box off when connecting/disconnecting cables. Since this is a dual tuner box, I will assume most people are looking at 110/119 and likely have a twin LNB setup—most popular one being DishPro Twin LNB (2 outputs, each feeding 110/119) and Dish 500 dish. Other LNB options include DishProPlus (I have read that the DishProPlus separator does not work for both tuners), and legacy Twin LNB; and of course Quads are acceptable. You must have a null modem cable and serial port/USB to update box’s software. You can also use the box’s USB port; directions from johniedoe

I also assume dish is properly setup and you get signal and quality

There is a Channel Copy function which should allow you to copy Tuner A’s channels to Tuner B’s and save time. But I’ve found problems using this in which only one sat’s channels would carry over and sometimes not at all. You can try Channel Copy if you want. If it doesn't work come back here. The following steps have worked all time.

If this is a brand new box/setup (Dish500 and DishProLNB) with IDE hard drive installed, 2 LnB cables--one to each tuner:

1. Load latest bin Remember to start with box plugged in with switch off. Start PVR Loader (v1.1) with file, press PC->STB, when see “Initializing…” flip switch on from back. The receiver display will count to 100, then you’ll see a tracing box. WAIT until you see “END” then turn receiver off and disconnect serial cable.
2. Plug in one sat cable to Tuner A and one to Tuner B.
3. Turn box on, hit Menu on remote, go to Installation>punch in factory pin “0000”>Antenna Setup
4. For 110 change settings as:
Satellite EchoStar 8,10
Tuner Select Tuner A
Connection Type (currently unselectable and will display Separated by default)
LNB Setting Change>
LNB Power On
LNB Type OCS-DP
LNB Frequency 11250
22khz Off

Search option All
DiSeqC 1.0 Port 2
Legacy SW None

You should be seeing nice signal/quality bars. Press OK on remote to scan channels in. Save.

For 119 change settings as:
Satellite EchoStar 7
Tuner Select Tuner A
Connection Type Separated
LNB Setting Same as above for 110
Search option All
DiSeqC 1.0 Port 1
Legacy SW None

Press OK on remote to scan channels in and Save.

5. Exit out Menu to any channel and press SAT on remote. You should see 110+119 listed for Tuner A. This verifies box has saved settings.
6. Now set up 110+119 as above but Tuner Select on Tuner B. Give box a second to pull in signal/quality. Scan channels and Save. Press SAT to verify 110+119 listed for Tuner B.
7. To switch tuners, press F1 on remote. You should see Channel List for Tuner B (same channels as Tuner A). This verifies that box sees both tuners. You can always switch between tuners with OK/F1 and selecting channel.
8. Now initialize hard drive. Go to Installation>Hard Disk>Hard Disk Format>OK to format. Next choose Hard Disk Information to verify box sees hard drive’s memory.
9. Now update your Guide Info by going to Menu>Receive Guide. Takes about 4 minutes but you end up with 3 days of EPG by default. If you want to change duration of EPG you can do so in Menu>System Settings. Currently 3 days is the max (if you find Guide menu moves slowly, you can change duration to 1 day). Receiving Guide once updates both tuners’ channels. In other words it’s unnecessary to perform Receive Guide on each tuner.
10. Now feel free to edit your channels, make favorites etc. Remember if you ever mess around with your settings, run into problems, forget what you did…you can always do a Factory Default to start over.

For legacy twins/quads your settings are:

For 110 change settings as:
Satellite EchoStar 8,10
Tuner Select Tuner A
Connection Type Separated
LNB Setting Change>
LNB Power On
LNB Type Standard
LNB Frequency 11250
22khz Off
Search option All
DiSeqC 1.0 None
Legacy SW SW42Dish2

You should be seeing nice signal/quality bars. Press OK on remote to scan channels in. Save.

For 119 change settings as:
Satellite EchoStar 7
Tuner Select Tuner A
Connection Type Separated
LNB Setting Same as above for 110
Search option All
DiSeqC 1.0 None
Legacy SW SW42Dish1

Press OK on remote to scan channels in and Save. Do same for Tuner B. Verify you see 110+119 on both tuners.

I’ll try to keep this updated for all PVR users.
