The Fox Reality Channel will cease in March 2010
The four year run of the all-reality cable network, Fox Reality Channel is expected close in early March. During the peak of reality programming in 2005, News Corp launched the reality channel in May of that year.
On, Oct 14 David Lyle, President of the Fox Reality Channel, told his staff the network would be shutting down. In the fall, Bob Boden, the VP of programming left the company took a position with Hasbro Studios.
The reality channel is available is 50 million homes, and yet never really established itself with audiences. The company has yet to announce what they will do with the channel.
The company said "With the changing cable landscape, we've made a strategic decision to shift some resources and refocus on emerging channels”.
The Fox Reality Channel aired re-runs of shows like “The Amazing Race” and “So You Think You Can Dance” along with original programming such as “American Idol Extra”.
