Girl, 10, tasered by police officer
Police report calls it 'very, very brief' stun to get her into patrol car OZARK, Ark. - Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle says one of his officers used a Taser on a 10-year-old girl who was combative when the officer tried to get the girl into a patrol car to be taken to a youth shelter. Noggle said Tuesday that officer Dustin Bradshaw went to the girl's home after her mother called police woman called police. According to a report filed by Bradshaw on Thursday, the officer found the girl on the floor of the house screaming and crying. She refused to follow her mother's instructions and the mother told Bradshaw to use his Taser. Bradshaw carried the girl to the living room and told her she was going to jail, according to the report. The girl was violently kicking, the report said, and struck Bradshaw in the groin with her legs and feet. The report said Bradshaw administered a "very, very brief" stun with the Taser, put the girl in handcuffs and carried her to his patrol car. She was taken to the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil

I'm all for our law enforcement being able to protect themselves, but if you, as a trained adult police officer need to set your phaser to stun to cuff and stuff a 10 year old girl it's time to look into another line of work.
I'm sure there are jobs available as a Yarn Barn Clerk, Cotton Ball Scooper, or maybe in a Marshmallow Factory. Jeez. Buzz

I think tazers should be outlawed. I am sickened to hear how often the police use this piece of equipment. People can say that they are safe to use (the manufactures, the police, and the promoters) all say how safe they are, or how quick the jolt is. I am well educated on the use of electrical stimulation as it is a part of my job and I use it often. Contraindications of elecrtical stimulation are: not on cancer patients, patients with pace makers and pregnant women just to name a few. The amount of electricity used in electrical stimulation is far less than that used in police tazers. If electrical stimulation is used on patients where it is contraindicated it is possible to harm and even cause death to the patient. Many deaths have already been reported, after police have tazed a suspect. Some police officers will tell you that the suspect hasd underlying conditions. You can make up your own mind about this suject. If it was up to me I would out law the use of tazers. There are other ways to subdue a suspect. I not trying to bad mouth the police, I have a few as friends. I would however encourage our police officer friends to think twice to try to find antoher method to subdue the suspect.
